Baja 2010

9/9/2015

In 2010 I took a handful of my best friends to Baja for my Bachelor Party.  Strip clubs aren't my kinda thing, but exploring Baja, camping, and surfing with my friends is.  We went deep into northern Baja, got pretty skunked with waves, but had a blast with old friends.  Photos taken by Clint, Robin and I.  Provecha.

the Home depot project 2008

On 2008 I asked the question, can I make a surfboard with items out of the Home Depot for under $100?  The answer was yes.  I was able use door-skin luan, Gorrilla Glue, Varnish and a Cutting Board to make a waterproof Beluga model surfboard for under $100.  You can make one too, try it!

Jamaica 2006

9/7/2015

In 2006 I checked a box off my bucket list: Jamaica.  In four days I circumnavigated the island in a rental car, stopping at Ocho Rios, Negril, the Blue Mountains, and some surf spots near Kingston.  At that time, it was one of the only islands in the Caribbean that I hadn't been to, and yet is the source of so many incredible musicians.  While the surfing pics aren't that great, I was able to score head-high waves on the Caribbean side!  I donated my twin fin to the amazing surf school owned by Bob Mystic, near Kingston.  I highly recommend staying with them if you plan to visit Jamaica.  Enjoy the pics :)

We set up Tracht with the Barrel Flute to go get some pits up the coast from Santa Barbara.  Here's the ensuing pit from the best wave caught on camera.  Yewww!

 Bali  2007

5/17/2007

In May of 2007, the Huntington Beach crew and I went to Bali and had the surf trip of a lifetime.  Good company and some of the best surf I've ever seen, we surfed everyday and everyday it was offshore.  We went for the full experience, from surfing macking Uluwatu, a boat trip to the islands nearby, deadly scooter rentals for strike missions, to nightly forays at the Kuta Beach night clubs.  I was amazed by the local craftsmanship in everything that's built there, and the Balinese people were so warm and rich with culture and art!  Best sculpturing and notch-and-pin carpentry work I've ever seen. And not to mention the killer street food!   What an amazing country.
