Peru 2003

9/14/2015

In 2003 four close friends since childhood went on a 40-day surftrek to Peru.  With busses, trains, taxis, and tents, we covered 80% of peru's coastline, traveling from south of Punta Hermosa to halfway up Ecuador.  On our way back down we stopped off at Cusco and hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.  It was an amazing trip and It was also sort of a surf-trip reunion for Max, Nick, Joe and I who grew up together on surfaris to Baja in high school.  We all hope to go again someday, Peru is an amazing place to visit, and is simply a wave machine.  But it's not just the waves - the people, history, culture and ruins made 40 days not enough to experience all that Peru has to offer.  I made it a point to photog the whole trip, I used an old Minolta camera with a light meter, with either high speed black and white film or Velvia slide film.  This is the first time I've published these pictures.  They really evoke the spirit of why I came back from this trip and changed the name of my surfboard label to the Third World Surf Company.
