In my early 20's, I would work part time as a carpenter in NorCal, then use that money to build 20+ custom orders for my first surf team. I'd then pile them all into my '89 Toyota SR4 and make the 40 hour trek down to them - all the way to Nayarit, Mexico. The town these exceptional surfers live in is Sayulita, just 30 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. The surfshop, owned by Pepe DeAnda, was the Sunset Surfshop. Afterwards we'd head another 20 hours south to Michoacán and Guerrero for some jucier surf. These are photos I've taken of what is now known as the Sunset Deliveries. Five round-trips, driving deep into Mainland Mexico from Central California loaded full of handshaped surfboards for some of Mexico's most talented surfers.
